I could never in a million, billion years abandon a cat. And chances are that if you’re reading this, you feel exactly the same way. But regardless of our kind hearts for cats, there are cats abandoned every single day at the hands of heartless humans. Rambo, a beautiful white cat with expressive eyes, is one of those felines. And you can tell just by looking at his face that there is a story behind those telling eyes of his.
I came across the story of Rambo and the sweet woman who opened her heart and home to him in my Tuxedo Cat Lovers group on Facebook. Thankfully Rachel agreed to let me share Rambo’s story with all of the Cattitude Daily readers, and although he had a very rough start at life, he knows nothing but love and happiness now.
1. Can you please tell me the story of how Rambo came into your life?
Rambo was the neighbor’s cat. Because (we later found out) of mistreatment, he preferred us, as he frequently stayed at our house on the deck. We fed him, but at that time he stayed outside. Then one day his owners moved out. And left him there. We continued to feed him. Then one day I found him in their tree in the front yard not moving. He had a wound in his side.
I picked him up and looked him over. Got him some food and water and pondered what to do. I decided to have a fundraiser on FB and raised $600. Took him to the vet. He had a fever. They gave him antibiotics and X-rayed him. He had a .22 bullet in him. We had him neutered a few days later. Because he was acting normally, we left the bullet. It’s still there!
What was his recovery process like?
How would you describe his personality?
Does Rambo have any cat or dog housemates?
Rambo has 5 brothers and sister, all cats.
What’s something special you’d like people to know about Rambo?
Rambo is a big boy and looks intimidating as far as cats go. But he’s really a big softy and seems eternally grateful for our help.
I’d like to give a special “thank you” to Rachel for saving this sweet boy and for allowing me to share Rambo’s story of survival with all of the Cattitude Daily readers. I know one thing is certain, fate had better things in store for this cat that just wanted to be loved—forever.
