When it comes to Maine Coon cats, they are known by all for their majestic fur. Maine Coon cats can come in a wide variety of shades, but there is something truly amazing about Maine Coon cats with black smoke coats. This alluring two-toned black and gray coat color combination is an ultimate head-turner, and Richie the Maine Coon cat is proof of it. This French-born Maine Coon cat is causing quite the stir online, and it’s easy to see why after looking at his wonderful images.
Richie—formally known as Richie du Mont d’Even—was born November 7, 2020, and it didn’t take long for this stunning feline to start making waves on social media. His owner was kind enough to allow me to feature him on the website, so keep reading to learn all about this pretty kitty with amazing fur.
How did Richie get his name?
We had to choose a first name starting with R. We chose Richie because it is also said that cats recognize their first name better if there is an “i” in it. But for the moment it does not work too much hahaha.
What is his personality like?
He is a cat-dog. He follows his mom everywhere and cuddles a lot in the morning when he wakes up. But only in the morning. The rest of the day, you have to leave him alone LOL. He loves to play and be close to humans. He is curious but at the same time a little fearful. He kept this aspect since he was little, he was the submissive of his siblings.
Richie has the most amazing coat! What is his grooming routine like?
I brush it as often as needed because it actually has a lot of hair so it easily knots. Especially when he goes outside, his hair gets attached to the dirt. Once a week, I brush his teeth and clean the area around his eyes when they are dirty, as well as his ears.
Does he have any other cat or dog housemates at home?
For the moment not, unfortunately, but we are considering potentially offering him a companion. You know, an animal is a lot of responsibility and time. It’s also a lot of money, you have to be sure you can take care of everyone properly.
What are his favorite hobbies?
Watch the animals at the window (we live in the country close to nature) and watch us cook because the kitchen has become his field.
What’s something special you’d like people to know about Richie?
I would like to say that Richie has an exceptional look and that I have never seen another Maine Coon like him. I am just as surprised as my followers. If anyone else knows a Maine Coon like him, I’ll be happy to know. Also, since Richie made the buzz, I would like to say that an animal is a big responsibility. Especially the Maine Coon which are rather fragile cats. We should not take animals if we are not sure that we can ensure a good life for them. I say that too because unfortunately, we come from France. France is the country that abandons animals the most.
