I think all cats have beautiful coats if you ask me. From stripes to swirls, spots to solids, each cat’s coat is truly unique. For super senior Tibu and his sassy tortie housemate, Harléquinn, they’re two cool cats who love to chat and pose for the camera. Tibu has a dazzling diluted gray tabby coat, and for Harléquinn, her bold tortie markings pop, especially in the eye-catching line running down her face. I love stories about rescue cats getting to live out the remainder of their nine lives together. And something tells me that if you’re reading this, well, then chances are you enjoy these stories too!

How did HarléQuinn and Tibu come into your life?
Tibu, who is 16 years young, came into my life when a co-worker’s cat snuck out the day before she was due to get spayed and she was pregnant 😂. I adopted one of her 4 kitties. Harléquinn, who is 5, I adopted from Wayside Waifs (@waysidewaifs) after my tortie Bébé passed away suddenly. Wayside Waifs is an excellent no-kill shelter in the Kansas City area.
How did you decide on their cute names?
Tibu is a nickname I heard a character in the movie “The Big Easy” when I was younger. The “ti” part is short for petit — in this case the younger, not smaller. Harléquinn got her name because of her markings. They are like a harlequin clown. The é is in tribute to Bèbé.
What is each of their personalities like?
HarléQuinn is a sassy, playful tortie queen. She’s what they had in mind when they coined the term “tortitude.” She can also be very sweet…on her schedule. Tibu is a total cuddle bug. He is very gentle and sensitive. He loves to hang out on the couch all day.
What are their favorite hobbies?
HarléQuinn’s favorite hobbies are: playing, sleeping in the sun, going on the balcony, and dashing into the Forbidden Hallway.
Tibu’s hobbies are: sleeping, snuggling, and trying to sneak butter or cheese as a snack (both make him sick, so that’s a big no-no).
What’s something special you’d like people to know about HarléQuinn and Tibu?
They are both incredibly chatty cats.
