Owning cats means owning the fur they shed. These three great cat hair removal tools let you get rid of unwanted fur while still keeping your cat.
Shedding fur. It's the biggest drawback of owning a cat, and especially multiple cats! I have two cats and I know how much fur they shed. I can't even imagine the amount to clean up if I had any more than Zak and Zoe.
The good news is there are tools to help manage the amount of hair that's on your furniture, clothes, and even your cats.
The JW Pet GripSoft Cat Brush removes loose fur from your cat; the FURemover Pet Hair Removal Stone brushes hair from blankets, bedding, and furniture; and the Evercare Pet Hair Lint Roller takes care of your clothes and any other fur-collecting surfaces you have left.
Everyone's situation is different, but these three products help most cat owners with the issue of excess fur. Read on to see what these nifty products are, how I use them, and what benefits they have in your household.

JW Pet GripSoft Cat Brush
The JW Pet GripSoft Cat Brush is a combination slicker and pin brush. The plastic-coated tips of the bristles are gentle on your cat's skin. For cats that are sensitive to metal pin tips, this is a great alternative. Its non-slip, ergonomic handle is easy and comfortable to hold.
The angled design of the pins catches hair more easily, but be careful not to put too much pressure on your cat's skin. The angle may cause the bristles to dig deeper than intended.
My cat didn't like the feeling of a brush initially, but I let her sniff it first and brushed very lightly while she was on my lap. It didn't take long for her to accept a brush.
You see in this YouTube video posted July 31, 2023, that Zoe loves the feeling of the JW Pet GripSoft Cat Brush. She rolls around, purring as I brush her.
As you see from the video, the brush does the job of removing hair. Zoe has coarse, medium-length hair, so this type of pin-tip brush works well for her.
You have to know your cat's coat type and choose the appropriate brush for them.
A soft-bristled brush is better for a cat with short or fine hair. A longer, thicker coat may require a de-shedding tool or undercoat rake. The thick bristles on this one are long enough to work for thick coats as well.
Ridgeline Veterinary Clinic veterinarian Dr. Peter Eddy, in Cathedral City, California, says this is why it's essential to groom your cat:
"Grooming your cat will reduce the amount of fur they shed around your home by removing loose hairs before they have a chance to fall out naturally. It will also help reduce the risk of hairballs forming in your cat's stomach, as any excess fur that has been removed during brushing is less likely to be ingested later on when they groom themselves or when eating wet or dry food."
Your cat's health is most important, but brushing your cat may also lessen the time you spend using the next two products.

FURemover Pet Hair Removal Stone
If you have indoor cats, you have indoor fur. It seems to stick to everything! Sometimes a vacuum doesn't do a good enough job.
If you have a blanket with cat hair on it, you may not want to put it in your washer for fear that it becomes clogged. That's where the FURemover Pet Hair Removal Stone comes in.
My cats especially love this soft, blue fuzzy blanket. It is a favorite spot for them when they nap. Consequently, it accumulates a lot of their fur.
This stone is an environmentally-friendly alternative to disposable lint removers. To use on bedding, hold down the blanket with your free hand and brush the stone across the blanket with the stone.

The rough surface of the stone catches all the hair and pulls it off of the fabric. Always brush with the same side toward you. If you change directions or go back and forth, some of the hair may come off the stone.

The easiest way to clean the stone is to place it under running water. You may also pick the hair off with your fingers.

Amazingly, the hair comes right off with water! I recommend running it under an outdoor faucet or hydrant. If you run it in your sink, you may rid the hair from your bed and replace that problem with a clogged drain.

Use the FURemover Pet Hair Removal Stone repeatedly until it's completely worn down. Mine hasn't reached that point yet, so I know it lasts. Find this product on Amazon or Walmart.

Evercare Pet Hair Lint Roller
You see these lint rollers in stores all the time. The Evercare Pet Hair Lint Roller is a roll of sticky, easy-to-peel, adhesive sheets that pick up hair, lint, debris, and small particles from any surface. It comes on a refillable roller that glides smoothly over surfaces.
You may also use the stone on clothing. I don't because the stone's rough surface pulls at my clothes, and I don't want it to damage the material. Blankets and furniture upholstery are thicker and stand up to the stone. Instead of the stone, the lint roller is also better used on smooth surfaces like leather or faux leather car seats or furniture.
This lint roller works very well and picks up lint and debris you didn't even know was there.
Do not use this on your cat because the adhesive could come off on them. It may also pull on fur that isn't loose.
Take it with you in the car or keep it next to your front door to use before going out. Storage is tricky, as you must stand it on end to keep it from sticking to whatever is around it.
There are many different versions of lint rollers, but some don't work as well as others. Some are difficult to peel and some peel too easily.
I know this one works well. Find it at Target, Walmart, Amazon, or on the company's website. It's an essential tool to have at your disposal.
