Out of the Box Litter Boxes

Does your cat ever follow you to the bathroom and use the litter box while you use the toilet? They may think they're just like you. Allow them to use a toilet (almost) like yours with the CatGenie A.I. Self-Washing Self-Flushing Cat Box.

When it comes to self-cleaning litter boxes, this is far and away the most unique design out there. It looks like a toilet, and it flushes like a toilet. All you have to do is teach your cat to flush it. Wait — it does that too!

Key Highlights of the CatGenie A.I. Self-Flushing Cat Box

  • The CatGenie A.I. uses washable and reusable granules, saving you money on litter.

  • Waste becomes liquified and flushes away, using your home's plumbing system.

  • The CatGenie A.I. has an app to control settings and monitor the system and your cat's usage.

  • The hands-off function of the CatGenie A.I. reduces the risk of toxoplasmosis.

Who Needs the CatGenie A.I. and Why

If you're a busy pet parent, you don't always have time to clean your cat's litter box or get distracted and forget to do it. That's not a problem with the CatGenie. You access CatGenie's A.I. through an app on your phone, making this litter box as convenient when you're away as it is at home.

The app allows you to monitor cleaning cycles, gives you the cleaning status, monitors your cat's bathroom habits, and gives updates on the CatGenie's performance. You can set up to eight cleaning times throughout the day. It is important to monitor the bathroom habits of a cat with urinary tract infections. You're not always around to know when or how often your cat uses the litter box, so this app is a lifesaver.

If you have multiple cats, setting the CatGenie to automatically clean several times a day saves a lot of work. Cats don't typically like to use a dirty litter box, and having several litter boxes throughout the house just adds work, time, and money. If all your cats can use one litter box, that's a total game changer!

One very important category of people who need a CatGenie is pregnant women or those planning a pregnancy. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says cats play an important role in spreading toxoplasmosis. To reduce your risk, the agency suggests:

"Avoid changing cat litter if possible. If no one else can perform the task, wear disposable gloves and wash your hands with soap and water afterwards. Ensure that the cat litter box is changed daily. The Toxoplasma parasite does not become infectious until 1 to 5 days after it is shed in a cat’s feces."

The CatGenie provides an easy way to avoid dealing with your cat's litter and reducing your infection risk.

How the CatGenie A.I. Works

When the cleaning cycle begins, a slotted scoop rakes through the litter in the bowl, removing any clumps. A veterinarian-approved SaniSolution washes and sanitizes the granules, leaving them clean for the next time your cat uses the box. The solids are liquified and flushed away using your home's plumbing system. Hot air dries the granules, so your cat doesn't step in wet litter.

There are three settings on the CatGenie A.I. — manual, cat-activated, and time-activated — with up to eight cycles per day. Be careful with the timed setting, as your cat may need to go during a cleaning cycle. If your cat has a regular bathroom routine, it may work well.

On the cat-activated setting, the CatGenie detects when your cat enters and exits the litter box and then begins a cleaning cycle. You may also press the button to manually begin a cycle.

If your cat desires a little more privacy, the company sells an optional hood that fits neatly on top of the unit with a front entrance point. This is also good for a cat that likes to dig aggressively and kick litter when they use the box.

There is some assembly required, but it's pretty straightforward. The company provides a manual with the bowl, but a downloadable version is on their website. After assembling the unit, you're ready to hook up the water supply.

Before you begin, turn off the cold water supply. Use the included T-adapter to connect to a cold water supply in the back of your toilet or washer. Then, feed the drain hose into your toilet or your washer's waste pipe. The hook fits neatly over the rim of the toilet and under the seat.

Fill the bowl with the included washable granules to the indented level indicator inside the bowl. DO NOT use regular litter in the CatGenie. If this happens, the unit doesn't work correctly, and you end up with a clogged toilet and a big mess!

Insert the SaniSolution cartridge into the slot on top of the bowl, plug the unit into a wall outlet, and turn it on. The indicator lights come on, and it's ready for a test run!

Customer Feedback

Cat owners love the fact that they don't have to scoop litter anymore. They say the cleaning cycle is noisy. Several customers recommend using the manual cleaning cycle with the door closed so the sound doesn't scare your cat.

After the cat gets used to the noise, a gradual introduction to the cleaning cycle may not be as frightening. The cleaning cycle takes a while, so you may want to provide an alternative option in case your cat needs to go before the cleaning process ends.

You can see the CatGenie in action in a YouTube short posted on July 31, 2023, by user Daily Mom. She says their household loves it and calls it a "game changer."

Customers mention a bad smell during the cleaning cycle due to liquifying the poop. Aside from setting up an air purifier in the room with the cat box, there may be no avoiding this. Closing the door may help, but this cuts off access to the box if your cat needs to use it.

Another drawback is the high price. For what this unit does, the cost isn't surprising. However, pet parents on a budget may not be able to afford this self-washing box. It's not the highest-priced automatic litter box on the market, but it's close.

Since it requires a waterline, you must make room for it in a place like your bathroom or laundry room. A laundry room is sometimes noisy with the appliances going, so your cat may not appreciate the ambiance when they use the litter box.

It's also rather bulky. Besides putting it in a specific room, you must have the space in that room for the unit. You must also ensure your cat has access to it whenever they need it to avoid any unwelcome surprises from your cat in another area of the house.

The washable granules are more expensive than regular litter but don't need replacing nearly as often.

Flush Away Your Litter Scoop

If you want a convenient way to get rid of your cat's litter, there's no better option than the CatGenie A.I. Self-Washing Self-Flushing Cat Box. The eco-friendly design of this revolutionary litter elimination system takes your cat's waste away without you having to touch a litter scoop.

The only time you have to lift a finger is when you use the app. Set the controls, check your cat's bathroom habits, and keep an eye on every aspect of their health.

It also keeps you and your cat healthy. Whether you're pregnant or not, handling your cat's feces and urine isn't a hygienic practice. Keep your hands clean by allowing the self-cleaning function to do its job.

The CatGenie A.I. Self-Flushing Cat Box is your solution to convenience and responsible pet ownership.
