Meet Sir Indiana Bones: The Coolest Staff Cat Of All

When it comes to cats, there are some really cool cats out there that have homes of a different kind where they can mix and mingle with visitors and share their lives with a full staff instead of just a single family. This is the case for office cats and working cats, and if you’re a cat lover like me, then you are usually pleasantly surprised when you enter a business or facility only to find that there’s a staff cat! I’ve been a fan of Sir Indiana Bones for quite some time, and if you’ve never had the opportunity to learn about him, then you’re in for a real treat!

I caught up with Brenna, one of the Kitty Committee members, one of Indy’s work moms, and an employee at Skulls Unlimited International, and she was kind enough to answer a few questions I had about Indy in great detail. So, everyone, get to know the “The one and only viral office kitty of @skullsunlimited and @museumofosteologyokc”!

How did Indiana Bones come into your life?

We (the staff) asked management if we could have an office pet. It was decided that a cat would be easiest to care for in our environment. Once we go the ok all the logistics were worked out we formed the kitty committee and headed over to the Moore Animal Shelter. We looked at a lot of cute kittens and cats but we kept going back to Indy and honestly, he chose us. He would paw and pull at Kristin (a kitty committee member) and do anything to get our attention

How did he get his cool name?

As for his name, the committee came up with a list and we took it to social media. Indiana Bones won by a landslide.

What is his personality like?

Indy is a sweet, independent boy with a playful streak. He loves to be brushed and loves chin scratches. He’s very well-behaved and not destructive. He is completely obsessed with porcupine quills, ornamental grass, and there was an alleged incident with a taxidermy mouse but nothing has been proven if you ask him.

What are his favorite hobbies?

His hobbies are, snacking on tuna, napping in the sun, stepping on keyboards (if he feels he hasn’t received an adequate amount of attention) playing hide and seek, napping on the highest shelf, jump-scaring people, napping in baskets, afternoon brush sessions, and napping in a box of skulls.

How does he react to the guests at the museum?

His reaction to guests is normally a friendly one. He really loves attention. He will hamm it up if he knows it will result in belly rubs (another hobby or interest of his). But typically Indy stays behind the scenes. He interacts with guests if he feels like it. He’s an independent man who does what he wants. LOL

It seems heโ€™s a fan of having his photo taken. How did you discover this?

Um, yes. He loves the camera! I guess we discovered it because we are basically the paparazzi. We are all crazy about Indy and snapping photos all the time. His IG came about because we were all sharing photos and decided the world needed to see his adorable, chunky self. We had no idea how popular he would become! It was more just for us to document his adventures and share with each other and possibly, some friends.

Whatโ€™s something special youโ€™d like for people to know about Indiana Bones?

I think we would like everyone to know that it is important to adopt. There are so many animals in shelters that need loving homes. Indy hosts donation drives for the shelter he came from and we are launching another drive. With all his new-found fame we hope to do some good for those animals in need. (More on that here!) Also, a portion of the proceeds on all his merch goes back to animal welfare.

I want to give a special “thank you” to Brenna for allowing me to share Indy’s story and images with all of the Cattitude Daily readers. For more on this super cool cat, be sure to check him out here on Instagram!
