Shelter Cat Won’t Stop Sneaking Cats Out The Door

UPDATE – 11/13/2019:

Quilty is testing out a potential adopter, and it seems that all is going well. Just look at this adorable photo and update from his hopefully forever human shared by The Friends For Life Animal Rescue and Adoption Organization on their Facebook page:

“Hi there! Just popping in with another Quilty update! He has really taken over the role of King of the house. He loves to be held like a baby and have his tummy rubbed and looks down on his human minions to do his bidding. He has us all wrapped around his paws for sure! Anytime he is ignored, he just starts meow-ing REALLY loudly and then Bam, he is being loved on and spoiled. His smallest human minion loves to feed him cat treats, so he definitely has us all doing his bidding and goes to whomever he thinks will give him the most pets or treats. He still sleeps under the covers with me though. All is going well, I will update again tomorrow 😁

Original story below, 11/5/2019:

The Friends For Life Animal Rescue and Adoption Organization in Houston, Texas has a catastrophe on their hands. It seems that they are housing a cat criminal! A beautiful male tabby named Quilty is currently in their care in search of his forever home. But while he’s been in their care, it seems that he’s exercised his cat superpowers: opening doors.

This wouldn’t propose such a dilemma if not for the several senior cats that he kept allowing to escape straight out the door!

Poor little Quilty, you can see how badly he wants to get out — that’s why we need to find him a home!

Bro. Give it up. You aren’t getting out. #QuiltyChronicles

“Quilty will not be contained. And he has no shame. Quilty loves to let cats out of the senior room. Repeatedly. Several times a day. We have since Quilty-proofed the cat room, while he took a brief hiatus in the lobby. His roommates missed him while he was banished to the lobby. They enjoyed their nighttime escapades around the shelter. The staff, however, did not miss the morning cat wrangling, so we’ll just have to agree to disagree there.”

Twitter user year-round ghoul posted to Twitter about Quilty’s plight, and asked the public for help giving this criminal kitty a forever home…

Why we love Quilty–and you should too!

What is the coolest cat name you’ve ever heard? I think my name, Quilty is the winner! I love my name almost as much as I love a CLEAN litter box and sunning on the balcony. As much as like getting pets, I really don’t like to get belly rubs.

I’m a smart, energetic, laid back fella, but I can be a bit shy. If you have a friendly dog at home that is OK with me, but I’m not sure about young children. I’ve never played with them before, so I don’t know if I like them. I do know that I like to open closed doors. When I see one it challenges me, and I work hard to get it open and I’m usually successful.

Remember the name Quilty and schedule a Meet and Greet with me. I’m ready to go to your house for a sleepover and I’m ready to stay forever.
