In Essex, UK, there lives a lovely black female feline by the name of Lady Dennis Cunnington-Lengthorn. Despite her masculine-sounding name, her owner tells me that she’s a girl cat—and a very spoiled little girl at that. She spends her days being loved and adored and doing as she pleases—which you ask me sounds like the purrfect cat’s life to me! She instantly caught my eye on Instagram, and I caught up with her cat mom hoping to feature her on the website. So, everyone meet this cool black cat that you’ll be sure to love just as much as me.
How did Lady Dennis come into your life?
I always wanted a cat and once me and my partner moved from a flat into a house we searched for a cat. Because we live next to a main road, adoption places didn’t want to know. A lot of the UK ones get funny about you living next door to busy roads. So we had to buy. We were online all day every day looking for a kitten and it was so hard because of the pandemic (everyone wanted one). We found Dennis, I offered £100 above the asking price to secure her.
How did Lady Dennis get her name?
Dennis, who we thought was a boy at the time, was named after an infamous Arsenal footballer – Dennis Bergkamp. A week into owning Dennis, we took her to the vet because she had an upset stomach. The vet told us she was, in fact, a girl and we love the name Dennis so much we didn’t want to change it, so as a joke we told everyone to call her Lady Dennis and it stuck.
What is her personality like?
What are her favorite hobbies?
Playing in the bath. She chases after a small stream of water from a water bottle around the bath.
Does she have any cat or dog housemates at home?
Nope, she’s an only child.
What breed of cat do you think she is?
I don’t actually know what breed she is. I know she’s a mix, but not sure what of!
What’s something special you’d like for people to know about Lady Dennis?
Lady Dennis loves all her followers and her Insta page is just for fun and a good time. I hope she makes people smile.
