I’m obviously a fan of all cats, but there is something so enchanting gray cats. And while there are a few breeds of purebred cats which are known for their gray coats, there are many shelter cats in search of forever homes with dazzling gray coats. (Which, if you ask me, is further proof that shelter cats are some of the most gorgeous cats of all!)
And thankfully for them, there are kind-hearted folks out there who seek them out so they can get their happy ending. For Kristin and her cat-loving boyfriend, they have a soft spot in their hearts for cats in need. And by chance, they encountered a most handsome gray feline in search of a forever home. And, as they say, the rest is history!
So, everyone, meet Jimmy Catoppolo!
How did Jimmy come into your life?
We went to the shelter to pick up a calendar. We had lost a gray kitten to illness a couple years prior so when we saw Jimmy (then named Granite) we were immediately drawn to him. My boyfriend Greg held him and when the owner of the shelter saw him she said, “I’ll neuter him right now and you can take him home!” She knew us and knew how much Greg wanted another gray kitty. So she did the surgery and sent him home with us in less than a hour.
How did Jimmy Catoppolo get his name? (Obviously I know since I’m an NFL fan, but for the sake of those who aren’t)
Jimmy is named after his dad’s favorite football player Jimmy Garoppolo of the San Francisco 49ers.
What is personality like?
Jimmy is an oddball. We call him a creature because he doesn’t act like any animal we’ve ever encountered. He’s goofy, neurotic, sweet and sometimes aloof.
Does he have any other cat or dog housemates at home?
Jimmy has two older cat siblings. Big sis Samantha @msmantha08 who is 13 and older but much smaller brother Louie @little_louie18 who is 3.
What are his favorite hobbies?
Jimmy loves playing fetch and watching hummingbirds. He’s also obsessed with chewing bubble wrap and plastic mailing envelopes.
What’s something special you’d like people to know about Jimmy Catoppolo?
Jimmy is large! At just 2 years old he is 21lbs!
