Meet Sperry & Scarlett: Twinsies Rescued From Separate Litters

When it comes to kitty cats, we often do a double-take when we catch a glimpse of a cat that looks almost identical to our own cat. Thanks to cool cat genetics, no two cats will ever be truly identical, but there are times when two cats can look so much alike, you’d swear they shared the exact same DNA.

For Sperry and Scarlett, they’re two beautiful tuxedo cats that were rescued by their cat mom years apart. But for this pair of tuxedo cats, they are two peas in almost an identical pod. And it’s a good thing that they found each other because these two are completely inseparable.

How did Sperry and Scarlett come into your life?

I adopted Sperry as a kitten back in 2012 in Ohio. At that time I had another cat, Gizmo, and they were close. When Gizmo passed away in 2014, Sperry would just sit and meow non-stop at my apartment walls, so I rescued Scarlett in 2015 in Los Angeles. She was found alone as a tiny baby in a dirt hole by a homeless man. A lady with a dog rescue traded him food for her and now she’s my sweet girl.

How did you choose their names?

I grew up on a boat as a kid through college, and we always wore Sperry boat shoes. I thought “Kitty Sperry” sounded cute and was a nod to my love of boating. Scarlett is named after Scarlett O’Hara from Gone With The Wind. We are distant cousins of Clark Gable on my mother’s side, so that was a nod to that.

How do they get along with one another?

They are best friends. They LOVE to cuddle together & frequently clean each other. Scarlett is always the one to initiate or go find Sperry to lay with him, but once she does he’s happy.

How would you describe each of their personalities?

Sperry is my gentle giant – he’s super chill. Scarlett is strong & sassy. Both are super lovey.

What are their favorite hobbies?

They love bird watching, feather toys, and catnip. Sperry LOVES to lay in cat tents and Scarlett loves to steal my fuzzy blankets to curl up on.

What’s something special you’d like for people to know about them?

They are meat tube connoisseurs.

I’d like to give a special “thank you” to Sperry and Scarlett’s cat mom, Courtney, for allowing me to share their story and cute images with all of the Cattitude Daily readers. For more of this purrfect pair, be sure to check out The Two Tuxedos on Instagram.
