There are many cats out there—often black cats—who have long fangs. But of these fanged cuties, most of them have long top fangs. But for one rescued black cat named Ralph—AKA King Ralph, he’s got killer fangs on his bottom teeth. Perhaps I speak for myself when I say that I don’t recall ever encountering a kitty with an underbite this cute before. And something tells me that if you like unique kitties, you’re really gonna love this cool cat.
Everyone, meet Ralph, a cute black cat with the cutest teefies you ever did see!
How did Ralph come into your life?
My sister (who lives in Champaign, IL) found Ralph on the website for the Champaign County Humane Society and sent me his picture. We were not in the market for another cat, but I was immediately sold.
My wife was not on board but agreed to come down and meet him (we live in Chicago). Needless to say, Ralph won us over immediately. You are drawn in by his handsome face, but his personality is what really sells him. He was one year old, very skinny, and sick. And now he’s a healthy two-year-old!
How did Ralph get his name?
Just look at him. If that’s not a Ralph, I don’t know what is.
What is his personality like?
To call Ralph unusual would be an understatement. He rarely sleeps: he runs around like a maniac for a good portion of the day. He’s also very needy. When he’s not running around he is staring at Regan howling until she picks him up. He really gets into being carried around like a baby.
He’s very attached to her. When she leaves he stares at the door and yowls. I think he wasn’t used to having a loving family. He used to try to leave every time the door opened. Now he won’t leave the bed until Regan gets up!
He’s the sweetest, craziest cat I’ve ever met, and was just waiting for us at the shelter!
Do his teeth impact his everyday life?
Ralph has a few challenges. He can’t pick up food in the normal manner; when he eats, he uses his lower two teeth as a shovel and flips food up into his mouth. He is missing the normal amount of teeth, but has several large teeth instead, almost like a bunch of teeth fused together. Because of his shortened snout, he is a little more prone to colds and respiratory issues and seems to have a diminished sense of smell, kind of like a bulldog. He also grunts instead of purring.
Does he have any other cat or dog housemates at home?
Ralph has three older cat sisters: DJ, Swifty, and Funky. We thought we were complete for a while, but Ralph has a way of ingratiating himself very quickly. He spends most of his time with DJ, chasing and wrestling.
What are his favorite hobbies?
Ralph loves chasing foil balls, wrestling, chasing other cats, eating, and being carried like a baby.
What’s something special you’d like people to know about Ralph?
Ralph is a connoisseur of bow ties. He’s got a lot of them and changes out his look seasonally. He is on Instagram @kingralphthecat and on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/kingralphthecat/ if anyone wants to see his latest looks.
I’d like to give a special “thank you” to Ralph’s cat parents, Ryan and his wife, Regan, for allowing me to share Ralph’s story and cute images with all of the Cattitude Daily readers. If you know someone who is a sucker for black cats with fangs, don’t forget to share. And for more of little Ralph, be sure to check him out on Instagram and Facebook.
